If you work in suicide prevention, you may be interested to know that the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has recently released announcements for two grant programs, one specifically for preventing suicides on college campuses, and the other focusing on youth suicide prevention.

Campus Suicide Prevention Grants: Authorized under the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, SAMHSA is making $5.5 million available to promote comprehensive approaches to preventing suicide in institutions of higher education throughout the nation. Up to 18 grantees could receive $102,000 per year for three years. Institutions of higher education are eligible to apply. Click here for the full grant announcement or apply here. Youth Suicide Prevention Grants: Additionally, $45.9 million is available to “support states and tribes in developing and implementing public/private sector collaborative programs designed to help prevent youth suicides”. Up to 32 grantees could receive $480,000 per year for up to three years. Eligibility is limited to “states, federally recognized tribes/tribal organization and private non-profit organizations designated by state and/or tribe/tribal organization.” Click here for the full grant announcement or apply here.
